Getting started with Perifit: insertion, training position and your first session

start-with-perifit

You are about to start your first Perifit session. Follow these steps carefully: a correct insertion and a solid understanding of the app will make all the difference in your training journey.

Step 1 - Clean your Perifit and your hands

Wash your Perifit with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Wash your hands as well, as they will come into contact with the genital area.

💡 Your Perifit is water-resistant but should not be submerged or used in the bathtub.

If you are prone to urinary tract infections (UTIs), also clean the skin around the anus and genital area before inserting the device. This simple precaution significantly reduces the risk of triggering an infection.

Step 2 - Switch your Perifit on

Press the ON/OFF button to turn on your device. You should hear a click. When your Perifit is on, the green LED will blink, confirming it is ready to connect.

Step 3 - Insert your Perifit

Lie down comfortably with your knees bent and legs slightly apart. This position is recommended for beginners, as it eases insertion and encourages natural muscle relaxation.

💡 Tip: Perifit is designed to be used without lubricant. However, if insertion feels uncomfortable, a water-based lubricant is perfectly suitable.

Insert the device so that:

  • The two pebble-shaped sensors sit inside your vagina
  • The white collar and the wire remain outside

The orientation of the white collar is essential for accurate sensor readings. Align it along your front-to-back axis:

  • ON/OFF button directed toward your clitoris
  • Lotus LED directed toward your anus

💡 As your pelvic floor strengthens over time, you may be able to use Perifit while standing. In the early stages, lying down is best. When standing, your muscles work against gravity to keep the device in place. If it slides out, simply continue training lying down until you build enough strength.

Step 4 - Connect the Perifit app

Enable Bluetooth from your smartphone or tablet settings. Important: do not try to pair the devices manually from your settings menu.

Open the Perifit app, follow the activation steps on screen, and head to the Train tab. The app will automatically connect to your device.

Step 5 - Choose your training mode and start

From the Train tab, three options are available:

  • Activate a programme directly from the Training programme carousel
  • Take the symptoms test to receive a personalised recommendation
  • Launch Practice mode to explore biofeedback at your own pace

Activating a programme

If you know which programme suits your goals, swipe through the Training programme carousel and activate it. Tap Start to begin. You can access the symptoms test at any time by swiping left in the carousel.

Your first game

Every new session begins with a calibration step: contract and relax your pelvic floor three times in a row. This allows the app to adapt the game to your current muscle strength.

💡 Tip: If the game feels too difficult, give only 50% of your effort during calibration. You can also pause at any time to recalibrate.

During the game:

  • The superficial pelvic floor sensor controls the pin on screen. Contract to move it up, relax to bring it down.
  • The deep intra-abdominal pressure sensor is reflected in the Contraction Quality Meter (lower-right corner). Keep the needle out of the red zone.

Each game includes a contraction pattern to follow. Focus on following the suggested curves rather than chasing every target. Avoid rapidly contracting and relaxing when you miss one.

💡 Good to know: Very few users reach every target. Missing some is entirely normal and means your pelvic floor is being appropriately challenged.

Taking the symptoms test

Not sure which programme is right for you? Use the symptoms test to receive a tailored recommendation based on your profile. Find it by swiping left in the Training programme carousel.

Practice mode

Practice mode lets you explore biofeedback freely, without a set programme. Squeeze your pelvic floor as though you are trying to stop the flow of urine or block wind.

💡 Good to know: Avoid performing contractions while actually urinating. Doing so regularly may increase the risk of urinary tract infections.

In Practice mode:

  • The green pin (superficial sensor) rises when you contract and drops when you relax
  • The red pin (deep sensor) reflects intra-abdominal pressure and should be kept as low as possible

To refresh your technique, consult the Kegel 101 guide available in the app.

You are now fully set up to begin your Perifit journey. Train at your own pace, listen to your body, and remember that consistency matters more than perfection. Your pelvic floor will thank you for it.
